Wantable Makeup Box Review - September 2013

Hello dear readers!

Today I have something different for you, unboxing and review of the Wantable beauty box.

This month, I was contacted by Wantable to see if I wanted to try one of their boxes. Usually, I'm not a fan of beauty sampling boxes. I used to think that I would receive products that I wont really use... that was until I checked Wantable's website to see how it worked.

What made me decide to try this box was the variety of boxes to choose from: makeup box, accessories box, intimates box and the new Halloween box.
I opted for the makeup box because I love trying new makeup items and who knows? they might include a nail polish to add to my collection :)
One thing I really liked about this makeup box is that you receive 4-5 full size products.
Also, once you sign up on their page, you have fill out a survey about the makeup products that you love, like and dislike. You will never receive the products that you don't like. Pretty cool, right?

Without further ado, here's the September box I got:

*At the end of this post,  I will also include a picture of me with a makeup look using items from this box ;)

Now to the close ups of the makeup items:

Japonesque angled foundation brush (Retail $25)

29 Cosmetics - Reserve moisturizing lipstick in Expressive Rose (Retail $25)

LAQA & CO. nail polish in Burple (Retail $11)

Michael Marcus brow pencil in Brunette (Retail $24)

And that's me with a makeup look using the the angled foundation brush (to apply my BB cream), brow pencil and the lipstick... coincidentally, the nail polish I was wearing matches with my lipcolor :)

Overall, I'm very pleased with this box. I liked all the products from this box and I will continue using them. I think this is thanks to the survey I took on Wantable about my makeup preferences.
The makeup box is $36 for a monthly subscription and $40 for one-time purchase. If you consider the retail price of all the items ($85), it's a very good deal and I got to try makeup brands that I might have not tried otherwise. You can purchase this box here. They ship to the US, Canada and Australia.

*This box was sent to me for review purposes.

I hope you liked this review which is actually first time for me to feature makeup items.

What are your thoughts about this box?

American Apparel - Palm Springs

Hello dear readers!

I want to show you swatches of Palm Springs, a nail polish by American Apparel.

Palm springs is a peachy nude color with creme finish. The application was easy, though it was slightly streaky. The opacity of the formula made it easy to even it out by the second coat. The only thing I was not so happy about this nail polish was the drying time. It took longer even after applying Out the Door fast dry top coat.

Do you like the mannequin finish this type of nail polish color gives to nails?
Tomorrow This Wednesday, I'll show you the stamping nail art I did on top of this nail polish ;)

Cameo Colours Lacquers - Poison Apple - Thermal Nail Polish

Hello dear readers!

I decided to post for the 2nd time this week because I couldn't wait to show you swatches of this awesome nail polish. This from an indie nail polish brand called Cameo Colours Lacquers. Poison Apple is part of their Thermolinear collection. This thermal beauty changes from brown when cool to a salmon color when warm. This is not only a mood or thermal nail polish, it is also a linear holographic nail polish.

Here you can see the beautiful thermal effect. This effect is due to the temperature difference between the nail bed and the free edge. *You don't need crazy long nails in order to get the gradient effect, just a few millimeters of nail length will be good enough ;)

Now, when your body temperature is warm enough, your nails will be entirely salmon color.

When cold, your nails will be dressed in a brown shade... can you see the linear holographic effect?
Application wise, I needed apply 2 coats to reach this opacity. This nail polish  applies like a dream, no streaks or bald spots. I am in love with both, thermal and holographic effects, so this nail polish was worth every penny.

For info on where to buy this nail polish you can go to Cameo Colours FB
https://www.facebook.com/CameoColoursLacquer

*This nail polish was purchased by me. The opinion expressed of this product is solely my own.

What do you think of this nail polish?
What other color combinations would you like to see in a thermal nail polish?
I personally would like to see a black/red color :)

Ninja Polish - He Went to Jarred - 12K White Gold Top Coat

Hello dear readers!

I'm still catching up (or at least trying) with nail swatches that are overdue on my blog...

Last month, I showed you swatches of Ninja Polish - The Midas Touch 24K Gold Flake Top Coat (Click here to read) and today, I have swatches of He Went to Jarred which is the silver version made of 12K White Gold flakes.

I applied 2 coats of He Went to Jarred over Man Glaze - Matte is Murder.
Just  as its gold counterpart, this silver flake was easy to apply.

One thing I forgot to say about this flake top coat... contrary to glitter nail polishes, gold or silver flake top coats are very easy to remove with regular acetone.

Which flake top coat do you like the best, gold or silver?

Man Glaze - Matte is Murder - With shiny topcoat

Hello dear readers!

On my previous post about Man Glaze - Matte is Murder, I showed you swatches with this nail polish in its natural matte beauty. This time, I want to show you swatches of this badass nail polish with topcoat.

As if Matte is Murder wasn't cool enough by itself, I went ahead and added topcoat just to add a bit more to the awesomeness of this nail polish...
I love the purple and green shimmer effect when shiny!

Extra pic...

Which finish do you like better? Matte or shiny?

Man Glaze - Matte is Murder - Review & Swatches

Hello dear readers!

Here is another belated post. Some of you may notice that on some of my recent posts my nails look long, a bit short on the next post and back to long on the other... I'm mixing some of my recent pictures with a few older ones that I had on queue... This one is  from the beginning of March.

It is the first time for me to try Man Glaze nail polish, I've read and seen awesome reviews on this brand and I knew I needed to try them myself.

Matte is Murder is an awesome matte black nail polish with a hint of shimmer.

The application was very easy, it is fairly opaque in one generous coat, but two coats are better. It can be applied without any problems with streaking or bald spots, just perfect. The drying time is relatively fast considering you don't apply topcoat to keep the matte finish.

Extra pic...
I'm usually not a fan of the matte finish, but Man Glaze nail polishes are just too good to pass up, these nail polishes are not plain at all!

I will show you swatches with shiny topcoat on my next post  ;)

*This nail polish was purchased by me. The opinion expressed of this product is solely my own.

Do you like matte finish nail polishes?

Lacquer Lust - A Stroke of Good Luck - Thermal Nail Polish - Swatches & Review

Hello Dear Readers!

Today I want to show you this awesome nail polish. It's called "A Stroke of Good Luck" by Lacquer Lust. The first time I saw swatches of this indie brand line of thermal polishes, I knew I had to have them. Lacquer Lust has created the most beautiful thermal nail polishes I've seen so far...

Thermal, transition or mood nail polishes change color to the temperature of the body. In this case, A Stroke of Good Luck is gold color when warm and turns green when cold. It also has a scattered holographic finish, which adds more to the beauty of this nail polish.
Here in the picture you can see the transition from gold (at the nail bed) to green (on the free edge).

Here is the nail polish when warm...

And green when cold...

Formula-wise, this nail polish was very easy to apply, no streaks whatsoever. And it's pigmented enough to wear with one coat, but in this case, I applied 2 coats which makes the transition effect more visible.

Lacquer Lust nail polishes are available here. In case they are unavailable, Jo restocks regularly.
You can find out about her next restock date or nail polish releases by liking her Facebook here
*This nail polish was purchased by me. The opinion expressed of this product is solely my own.

What do you think of this nail polish? Have you tried a thermal nail polish?
